Here comes the summer - Where will you be spending it? - Part 2

May 16, 2014  •  Leave a Comment

OK so I got a bit carried away with Part 1 and realised it needed to be split so

Welcome to Part 2, take a seat, make yourself at home and off we go...

Now that I have covered what shows have already been on lets see what we have to look forward to.

Next weekend (23rd to 25th May) brings one of my favourite shows of the year for its social aspect as well as the differing array of modified cars (For social read, chance to have a few beers without worrying about having to drive on Fri and Sat)

As the name suggests this is a show for all things modified and always draws a great variety of cars as well as plenty of other entertainment on stage and indoors should the weather get bad (But of course it wont!)

Like last year this is in fact two shows in one as it incorporates the Hot Rod and Custom Show with may fine retro bands playing as well as some fantastic classics.

Check out some images from last years show

If modified cars are not your thing and you would rather get an adrenalin fix and your eardrums burst then get yourself along to the

FIA/FIM European Championships - Round 1

at Santa Pod which is on the same weekend or if you want to do both the European Championships continue on the bank holiday Monday

Seeing a Top Fuel Dragster hitting 300mph in a 1/4 mile is certainly a site and sound to behold.

I was unable to attend last year but here are some pictures and a link to the gallery gallery from the finals to give you an idea of what to expect.

The next show is a personal favourite of mine and many other people too just because of the sheer spectacle of the event.

It is of course DRAGSTALGIA at Santa Pod on Friday 11th to Sunday 13th July

If you have any sort of passion for Drag Racing then this is one not to miss, with every type of drag vehicle know running down the track over the three days as wwll as plenty of other entertainment off track right into the evening.

You should definitely not think of heading home when the sun goes down otherwise you will miss the amazing Flaming Burnouts and Cacklefest which are a sight and sound to enjoy especially as this is very rarely seen these days.

To bring this blog to an end I bring you something a bit different. - Sywell Classic - Pistons and Props on 27th and 28th September at Sywell Aerodrome

This held its inaugral show last year and what a great show it was. A combination of classic cars on the ground and classic planes both on the ground and in the sky as well as a temporary drag strip to demo everything from very early sports classics to famous Formula 1 Cars

This has all the makings of being a very popular show and I highly recommend it.
